Pennsylvania Bans Three Adults From Casinos After Leaving Children Unattended
In Pennsylvania, three more adults have been permanently barred from physical casinos.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) revealed on Wednesday that it has recently imposed a number of monetary fines on its licensees. Additionally, three adults were added to the PGCB's Involuntary Casino Exclusion List, according to the state gambling regulatory body.
Two children, ages eleven and twelve, were left unsupervised in a car outside of Hollywood Casino Morgantown by a male and female client, according to the state. According to the PGCB, the kids sat in the parking area as the two guardians wagered inside the casino for almost thirty minutes.
Three children, ages two, six, and twelve, were abandoned in a car in the Hollywood Casino York parking lot by a female customer in another instance. The anonymous individual reportedly wagered on slot machines and table games for about thirty minutes. They are currently prohibited from accessing any casino in the Commonwealth.
"Actions such as these to deny statewide gambling privileges serve as a reminder that adults are prohibited from leaving minors unattended in the parking lot or garage, a hotel, or other venues at a casino since it creates a potentially unsafe and dangerous environment for the children,” the PGCB said.
There are seventeen actual casinos in Pennsylvania. Additionally, the state is one of just seven states in the nation that allow live dealer table games and online slot machines. Both in-person and online sports betting are available in Pennsylvania.
Violations of Regulations
In addition to the occurrences involving unaccompanied children, the PGCB prosecuted a video gaming terminal (VGT) operator for breaking regulations.
The truck stop gaming area of the Lucky Seven Travel Plaza in Lock Haven, Clinton County, was found to be in violation of the state's VGT statute, leading to a fine. The Lucky Seven gaming room was occasionally understaffed with board-credentialed personnel, according to law enforcement. The gaming terminals were accessible to anyone who wasn't at least 21 years old, and children wagered on the machines at least twice.
Vasas Inc., operating under the name Lucky Seven Travel Plaza, was hit with a $45K punishment. The PGCB additionally penalized the two proprietors of the facility $5K.
Additionally, the PGCB signed consent agreements with two casinos that led to penalties.
In order to resolve a disagreement over the use of a compromised deck of cards, Live! Casino Hotel Philadelphia agreed to pay a $12K fine. After granting admission to the gambling floor to someone who had been wrongfully excluded, Hollywood Casino York agreed to a $10K payment.
Revenue for September
Due to a 3% decrease in physical slot machine wins and a flat table win from September 2024, Pennsylvania's retail casino income declined last month. However, iGaming slot income increased 37% and online table games increased 18% from the previous year, handily offsetting the in-person decreases.
Last month's overall gross gaming revenue was $533.3 million, including sports betting, fantasy sports, VGTs, and online poker. That was a net positive difference of $27.5 million, or a 5.4% gain over September 2024.
