A casino resort in Las Vegas offers the opportunity to relive summer vacation, but with poolside cocktails and opulent suites in place of juice boxes and bunk beds.

Throughout July, Camp Palms is being held at the Palms Casino Resort. Anyone who is 21 years of age or older is welcome to spend their summer days away from bothersome supervision.

"Where legends get exaggerated, rules get bent, and every night feels like the story you’ll be retelling for years,” the casino says of Camp Palms.

The only other requirement for enrollment is that campers must travel to Vegas without children, in addition to being at least 21 years old.

Camp Palms is a special location on the off-Strip property that will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. till late. The location is across from Scotch 80 Prime, just off the casino floor.

A nostalgic wilderness playground with towering pines, lakeside views, campfires, woodland critters, and camp legend awaits campers as soon as they arrive at Camp Palms.

The extremely exuberant Camp Director Larry, Camp Counselors Sandy and Brad, the overly flirty Nurse Candy, and the constantly watchful Ranger Rick are just a few of the cast members who will be present at the camp. Additionally, "resident wildlife troublemakers" including Tokey the Bear, Foxie Roxie, and Lost Mess Lake Monster will be present at Camp Palms.

A "living, breathing summer camp experience" is how Camp Palms is marketed. Desserts, bar service, and packed dinners and snacks will all be available. The "Backwoods Bottle Service" includes shots and Jell-O shots.

Sing-alongs and dancing will be fueled by the camp's music, which will feature timeless nostalgia from the 1970s and 1980s, creating a "unmistakable feeling of summer freedom."

Only the desire to relive one's summertime youth is required; there is no cover fee or camp admission.

Summer Camps for Adults

The origins of adult summer camps can be traced back several decades to the 1920s, when these events were first used as adult getaways for political, spiritual, and cultural purposes.

In the wake of the smartphone, the modern adult summer camp movement got its start in the 2010s. Many flocked to adult camps to take much-needed breaks from their apps and to re-establish physical connections with people as adult life became more computerized and social media replaced some in-person social events.

The so-called "loneliness epidemic," which health experts claim is the result of digital displacement, nomadic lifestyles, and how COVID-19 irreversibly changed how certain people communicate and socialize, has recently benefited adult camps.

The US Surgeon General published a study titled "Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation" in 2023. According to the survey, living alone raises the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and early death by about 30%.

"Humans are wired for social connection, but we’ve become more isolated over time. Social connection is as essential to our long-term survival as food and water,” the Surgeon General said.

According to the research, people should spend time fostering relationships, get involved in social and community organizations, and look for chances to help and assist others.
