The Biggest Casino Jackpot Win
The biggest casino jackpot ever was won by an unidentified man at the Excalibur Casino in Las Vegas. His $100 bet on a popular Megabucks slot machine yielded a jackpot prize of $39.7 million.
Casino Has Italian Origins
The word "casino," which means "small house" in English, was first used in Italy in 1744. Despite the fact that we are unable to pinpoint the exact origins of gambling (we discussed it here), the first casino is believed to have opened in Venice in 1638, long before the word "casino" gained popularity. Fun fact: Players could only "bet high stakes" in this Venetian gambling establishment, which required masks and tricorn hats for attire.
